the content of automatic blank pages

I suggest a feature that enables me to control the content of the automatic
blank page resulting from inserting an odd/even section break.

Thank you for your great efforts

This field helps Word detect an empty even-numbered page between chapters and
then insert the "intentionally blank" text. However, the field requires Word
users to refresh contents, so is less usable in a departmental template to be
used by professionals who don't like to think about publishing basics.

I want Word 2007 to detect empty even-numbered pages that occur after an
"Odd Page" section break and insert the correct page number. For example, my
template has front matter that takes up three pages. If the template user
does not add sufficient front matter to add a page (such as extending the
revision number table), then Word 2007 correctly begins the first page of
content on an odd page, but the empty page does not include the page number
designated in the footer.

What can I do to get a page number on that empty page before the content
starts?

By publishing convention, blank pages inserted to create odd-page section
starts do not bear page numbers, running heads, or any other content. If you
want a "blank" page to have content, then you will have to be content with
the mechanism provided, namely the field. If users are going to be printing
the document, the field will update at print time.

Okay. How and where would I insert a field for page numbers on automatically
inserted "blank" pages? All pages that I can edit have page number fields
already.

If the field generates an extra page with *any* content, that page will have
the same header as the preceding ones.

The field suggested by Stefan Blom inserts content in blank pages. Is there a
field that inserts page numbers in footers of blank pages?

Since the construction merely inserts an additional page in the same
section, that page should have the same header/footer as preceding pages (or
even pages, if different from odd) in the same section. If your
Header/Footer or Even Page Header/Footer contains a { PAGE } field, then
there should be a page number on the "blank" page. Note that John's very
first paragraph says, "Since the page is part of the text, it will have a
header and a footer."

Instead of the static text, add some blank paragraphs, by pressing Enter,
and attach a text box to one of them. Drag the text box to the desired
location on the page, but make sure that it is anchored to one of your extra
paragraphs (inside the IF field). In the text box, insert a PAGE number
field. Does that work for you?

Thanks a lot for all of you..
But I still suggest a feature that enables handling the content of such
pages easily. I hope Microsoft will consider that in future versions.

I appreciate your time. I'm glad to know solutions exist, though these do
seem more complex than necessary. Hopefully Microsoft will make it easier to
put content on an automatic blank page.
