The Case of SP2 and the Disappearing Icons

I've installed SP2 twice and removed it twice using System
Restore. On both occasions, absolutely no icons, the task
bar, or "Start" button appeared. However, when I go into
Safe Mode, all the icons and other stuff are there. Any
suggestions.

Of course, it wouldn't be anything so simple as the taskbar being hidden
or desktop icons being hidden ...

Usually when the desktop remains blank, it's because Windows Explorer is
too busy loading spyware or spyware has crashed it and it is reloading
itself. It could also be a video driver incompatibility. You might find
an updated video driver at Windows Update or you can check the vendor
web site. Find the vendor in the Device Manager applet.
