The best approach to completely back up Windows Mail?

Hi,

I would like to know if there is an instructions on how to completely make a
backup copy of all my emails, account settings, rules, signatures from
Windows Mail?

I was reading some of the threads here, and some of the MVPs mentioned about
making a copy of the Windows Mail folder, and a couple registry keys.
However, there is no concrete procedures to be found.

Thanks

The directory you need to backup is located via Tools | Options | Advanced |
Maintenance . The default is

%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Mail\

You need to back that up and these registry keys:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Identities
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\IAM
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows Mail

Most of the information used by WinMail now is stored in the latter key and
you should be able to restore settings by just saving this key, I think.

The account information is now in the message store and store as oeaccount
files. See http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-gb/library/ms715237(en-us).aspx
