Been searching the database for ages and can't find an answer that adequately
solves my problem.

Running WXP, get blue screen of death on startup, can't get in through safe
mode and therefore can't get near REGEDIT.

I need the password for the recovery console. Don't have floppy disk.

Before I resinstall Windows and get thoroughly pissed off, is there any
other way to recover the admin password?

Thanks, much appreciated!!
Rachel.

For recovery, press the enter key.Are you tapping the F8 key immediatly
when machine starts,if not thats why safe-mode isnt available.

Pressing the enter key doesn't work because the password hasn't been left
blank.

Yes, I am pressing F8 and getting to the option to start windows in safe
mode but I can't do it because the blue screen of death appears immediately
after I make my safe mode selection.

Tap on that F8 key and enter the recovery console. Leave it blank or try
"password."

You could try this:

http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=308402

Or, you might try one of the many programs that will reset the password to
blank.

There's another way around it, but I can't find it just now, but it gets a
bit complicated as you have to get into the registry to fix it.
