The 2GB limit

Hi,

Does anybody knows that whether the 2GB is lifted or not in Outlook 2003 or
in Outlook 2007? In case in 2003, please kindly direct me to the right
direction to solve this limitation.

Would appreciate for any input.

the new Outlook PST file (Unicode PST) has no 2GB Limit. The normal limit is
20 GB

To get a unicode PST file in Outlook 2003 you can create one in Outlook
under "File/New/Personal Folder" then you will ask for Outlook 97-2002 PST
or for Outlook 2003. Select the Outlook 2003 PST file and you will get a
unicode PST.

Yes in both. You simply need a Unicode PST file. Upgrading to Outlook 2003
with the old PST file doesn't solve the problem -- you'll need to create
a new Outlook 2003 (Unicode) PST file, then move the items from the old PST
to the new one. Best to move the items from one to the other, rather than
Import.

Outlook 2003 does not longer have this limitation. However, you must
create a new PST file in 2003 format. Old format (97-2002) files can not
expand or migrate to the new format, you must copy all data from the old
to the new format file.

You noted that one can open file/new.personal folder and then ask for
outlook 2003.
I select file/new/personal folder and that is all I can get. I find no
selection for anything.

In Outlook 2002 and above, the menu is File>New Outlook Data File. In
Outlook 2003 and above, you will have the choice of "Outlook 97-2002
Personal Folders File" or "Office Outlook Personal Folders File". Which
version of Outlook are you using?

I found the right one.
I now go to windows explorer and can see where the backup file goes.
One problem I have is when I go to registry
K_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\POLICIES\MICROSOFT\OFFICE\11.0\OUTLOOK
I cannot get past softtware as there is no POLICIES in my chain or file.
How do I remedy that?

That should be HKEY_CURRENT_USER. On my PC, I have Policies\Microsoft, byt
there is no Office key under it. I can't figure out why
HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft would be missing, though. Did you try
creating it?
