I want to thank all the folks who associate themselves with this discussion
group for helping me complete a project that is very special for me.
In particular: Echo, David, Sonia, Shyam, Steve, Kathy, TAJ, Glenna, and
there are probably about 10 more names I should mention, but also everybody
who sends in questions to this group.

I learned how to use PowerPoint mostly by lurking in this group.
Occasionally I’d ask specific questions and always got very professional
answers. Now I’ve “completed†my project – and maybe I just want to show it
off to my teachers! In any case, I’d appreciate comments on the “finished
product†some of which can be downloaded at
www.DiskLectures.com

My auto-start CD has 19 of my “Intro to Finance†MBA lectures on them (.pps
format), and includes over 10 hours of audio lectures (linked MP3 files),
about 40 linked excel workbooks, lots of dynamic graphics, exercises with
immediate feedback, web links, bibliographies, checklists, etc. The basic
idea is to provide on the disk everything that the student would get by
attending a lecture (without, of course, much of the student-teacher
interaction that can be the most important ingredient in learning).
I think I've taken PowerPoint - along some paths at least - about as far
as I can take it, but I'm also sure that you all can suggest improvements. I
invite you to download a couple of these lectures from www.DiskLectures.com .
Go to “freebies,†and please download either of the 2 files at the bottom of
the screen, Options 1 or Time Value of Money 1. At 12 and 16.5 MB, I’ll
suggest you do this only if you have broadband, but they only take a minute
to download with broadband.
There’s also a small file that I’ll put in as my entry to the
“Jeopardy-style game†competition called 5MinuteQuiz.

Thank you very much again.

Sincerely,
Pdek

My pleasure, Pete. Well done. I enjoyed your presentations, and I felt as if
I actually learned something!

Looking forward to checking out the jeopardy-style game, too!

Pdek,

I've noticed, in the past, that you too have given out some very good advice
here in this group.

Flattery! Actually, when I start thinking that I know something about
PowerPoint
I try to answer some of these question and time how long it takes before
somebody quietly explains that my response was interesting, but that there is
a better way of doing things.
BTW I forgot Bill, Austin, and many others
but you folks know who you all are.

ROFL! We all do that to one another. Welcome to the fold!

Hello,
I have downloaded all the files at your site, they are more than interesting.
But sadly the 2 at the bottom would not open on my computer. How can I get
it run? What software to use? I'm on Win XP.
Thank you very much.

Thanks for getting back to me. Please e-mail me at ekmanp at gsb.ceu.hu
with details
or use the contact info on the site, since this isn't really the forum for
this.

But in general, the bottom 2 downloads are the best & largest. They're
self-extracting .exe files, which some networks don't like to download, but
once downloaded, just click to open (it takes about 15 seconds to extract)
accept the conditions for using the PowerPoint Viewer and it should start up
by itself.
You might also want to put on your ear-phones.

If your network doesn't like the format, I'll make sure to post a format
your network does like!
