Thanks Symantec

After installing Vista, I found that I couldn't get my antivirus to work and
a downloaded version for vista would not work. Now using MS onecare for some
protection. The good thing is that Symantec is giving me a refund on my
software without too much hassle -

AVG works with vista pretty good and it is free. Don't use Symantic as it
is a major resource hog .

You won't thank "OneCare".... on recent a/v tests and reputable, it failed

There are good alternatives for AV - AVG and Avast - both free, and NOD32

Hello Peter M,

For some reason, I'm near certain (thinking that you fully read the
columnist’s article) that you are fully aware your Post is more than very
deceptive.

Time and space does not permit fully expressing the many reasons other than
sharing the source for that columnist’s article desired people subscribing to
their articles for a fee of $175.00 US annually; additionally, those same
folks (the true source) desired for others making purchases from their Site.

It was all about self-pronouns, self-promoting, and collecting money...

Symantec is working on a version which will work with Vista -- there
was a major spat last year regarding things Microsoft wanted to include
in Vista which were getting in the way of folks like Symantec.

That being said, I use NOD 32 in Vista (as well as 2000 and XP) -- much
less intrusive.

Windows OneCare failed every test. See here:

Microsoft's own antivirus fails to secure Vista

The latest update on the Symantec site works flawlessly with Vista.
download the file (over 200 megs), and then simply click on the .exe file to
install.

Funny, I have NIS installed on 4 different computers in my home, and it
takes up very little system resources on either of them.

You are an idiot. Stop breeding immediately.

You....*YOU* should use OneCare. It'll keep you offline and prevent you
from spewing garbage.

Oh...and I top posted...did I piss off little scotty-wotty?

Understood -- I've got a beta running -- but when it expires next week,
I'll revert to NOD 32.

OneCare does suck however....

If Symantec's Norton products are anthing like those from previous
years, they often hang, crash and fail to update properly (program
updates with LiveUpdate)..

Not to mention Symantec's business practices....

I was a faithful Norton SystermWorks/Utilities user for years till I
finally got fed up and dumped them last year.

Now I go with individual apps to replace those in SystemWorks. It's
more expensive, but you get what you pay for.

A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text.
Q: Why is top-posting such a bad thing?

I used Symantec many, many years ago, and stopped using it soon afterward.
Just on a lark, I recently downloaded a trial of Symantec Internet Security
2007 (supposedly Vista-Ready) and installed it.

After a few days, I uninstalled it (properly, of course)

Please reply to the original newsgroup and thread.

.. From then on, each time I looked in the Security Center, all the Symantec
products were STILL registered as working, up-to-date, and protecting my
computer. This was after a THOROUGH Registry cleaning.

Goodbye, Symantec, FOREVER!!!
IN fact, I had to reinstall Vista after this.

I won't go on a "lark" like that again any time soon.
I'm Sticking with NOD32 and the Windows Firewall from now on.
