Please read below for the oreginal question.

*I imported my website to the local computer and have
been doing some changes
to my web pages in my computer(http://www.air-purifier-

Next day I found out that the changes I have done on my
computer was already
published to the website automatically. I am 100% sure I
didn't published
it. This is the 2nd time it happened. Please explain
where I did do wrong.*

I am using FrontPage 2002. I tried tofind how to turn
the remote access off.

I am sorry about typing every thing in caps. I did not
know about the shouting
As I mentioned in my other mail I imported the website
and did some changes. But I did not publish it or I even
didn't save the changes I did to the pages. I just
closed the computer and walked away. Next day I visited
my website online and saw some of the pages I created was
published automatically. Please explain how to turn this
function off.

It not a matter of turning off remote access, it is how you open the site in FP that determines
which copy of your site that you are working on.

When working on your live/remote copy of the site, the top most folder in folder view will display:

http://www.air-purifier-sale.com

When working on local copy of the site, the top most folder in folder view will display one of the
following:

C:\Documents and Settings\<loginname>\My Documents\My Webs\

or

http://localhost or http://machinename or http://127.0.0.1

Off the subject a bit...

Using FP2003, how do you open a site remotely. Just curious. I've always
open my files locally then published.

With FP2003, whichever copy you open first, is considered to be local and the one you publish to is
considered the remote site.

But I look at the remote site as being the one that is open via http://www.domainname.com

and the only way to open a site on a remote server, the site must be hosted on a server with the FP
extensions or a Windows 2003 server running Windows SharePoint Services (WSS).

possible answer is that you were working on the live web site rather than
your local copy.

Right.. I understand that and my server is running the extensions.
I see the right and the left side at the same time on a split screen. I
assume that is how most people view it. However, I have only opened the
files on the left side (local), make updates, save, then publish.

What I don't see is a way to open the files on the right side. I don't see
the purpose of this but I do want to understand and see how it is done. I
don't see how to edit a file on the server...leaving the files on my local
machine un-touched???

With my setup of FP2003, I use File Menu | Open Site and after selecting a site, I see the folder
list in the left pane, and the web open web content in the right pane.

How are you opening the site you want to work on?

I also use File>Open Site.
It is when you do your first publish that gives you the split screen ...
showing what is on your local (left side) and remote site (right side).

Once that happens, the remote site is open (and live), however, my changes
are only done to the local copy. It is not until I hit publish again that
the left side content updates the remote site.

But I don't see where you can open the remote site and modify it without
doing the local site first.

Not to harp on the same issue but I just discovered something. Why I never
saw it before.

If you open your website and publish to the server (remote), you will get
(in the lower left corner) 3-lines of text in the form of links as shown:
-View your publish log file
-View you Remote web site
-Open you Remote Web site in FrontPage

The last item seems to do the trick... which is what I was trying to figure
out. The last link will open the website that is on the server in
FrontPage. You can actually edit something there, without changing the
files on your local machine. Seems like a bad practice to engage on,
however... there it is (the feature that is).
