TFT monitor!!!

Hi, can anyone help please.

I have a 3 year old Compaq TFT5000 flat panel monitor.

The monitor now appears not to be working as the PC comes on but there is no
picture.

There is an amber light on the monitor and there is faint image every time
you turn it on or off. But the amber light remains on all the time.

I have referred to Compaq website, which seems to indicate that it is in
sleep mode - but I'm damned if I can get it out of sleep mode. (thats
assuming that that is what the problem is of course!!!)

I've tried moving the mouse, and selecting any key on the keyboard to wake
it up- but no joy.

I have the same monitor on my other PC and swapped them across - it worked
fine.

If anyone has any suggestions as to what it might be then I would be most
grateful!!!.

I'm beginning to think that it may be the backlight - any idea what the life
span of these things are??
I can't seem to find a website that may supply them either!!!

Regards,

Patrick.

As an extra, does anyone know what the backlighting method would be for
these monitors??? CCFL or EL - I'm not sure???

Patrick.

your backlight's screwed or your inverter's not working. case off, power
off, disconnect/reconnect.
if this doesn't fix it, a new monitor is under 200 quid so will be cheaper
to bin and start again.
