textbox size issue in Word 2002 and 2003 but NOT in Word 2000

Scenario 1:
1. Create a textbox in Word 2000.
2. Set width and height to 4.5cm and 8.6cm respectively.
3. Print on default printer (in this case HP LaserJet 5N).
4. Check box size with ruler - everything is OK.

Scenario 2:
1. Create a textbox in Word 2003 (or 2002 for that matter)
2. Set width and height to 4.5cm and 8.6cm respectively.
3. Print on default printer (the same HP LaserJet 5N as above).
4. Check box size with ruler - NOT OK.
If I increase the values by 2.5% (more or less) the box size is OK.

Scenario 3:
1. Create a textbox in Word 2000.
2. Set width and height to 4.5cm and 8.6cm respectively.
3. Edit the document in Word 2003.
4. Print on default printer without changing anything (the same HP
LaserJet 5N as above).
5. Check box size with ruler - everything is OK.

If I increase the box size I still have to increase by 2.5% (more or
less) to get the correct size.

In the above 3 scenarios I only write the box size as text in the boxes
just for identification so it shouldn't be a font issue (not even 1
hole line).
The printer is the same one in all cases so it shouldn't be a printer
issue.
The driver is also the same one (Windows XP pro default driver) so it
shouldn't be a driver issue either.

We use Office 2003 Small Business full installation on IBM SFF PC's
with Windows XP pro connected to a Windows 2003 SBS DC.
The WS where we tested Word 2000 is running Windows 2000 Pro and Office
2000 Premium.

Any help is very welcome... it's realy important that the box sizes are
accurate as it is the case with Word 2000.

Downgrading to Word 2000 is not realy an option even though its
tempting.

Too cryptic. Details about your boxes? What are you trying to do?
What worked successfully in 2000? What is happening in 2003?
