custom paper size in excel 2003

I want to print on a custom paper size from excel. I realized that I have no
option to choose a custom paper size and all I can choose are the paper
sizes that are pre-configured on the printer. MS Word supports custom paper
size wherein I can specify the page width and height. It is strange that MS
Word can override the default printer setting whereas Excel provides no such
option. Is there any way in which I can achieve this?

My printer printer user guide mentions that applications can override the
printer driver settings. This is what is done the MS Word. Can I achieve the
same in excel by installing some add-ins?

Thanks in advance

Available page size is determined by the capability of the default
printer, so whatever custom paper you create and make available in the
default printer is what you get to choose from. FWIW making a "PDF
printer" (Adobe acrobat or other)the default will give you the greatest
options.

Strange that MS Word does not depend on the default printer for its page
size,
but Excel does. This looks like a bug in excel than being an intended
feature.
