text to speech programs

Every freeware version I've tried have lousy robotic sounding voices. Are
there any freeware text to speech programs out there with natural voices?

I don't know of any. I was happiest with L & H voices when I was using
freeware to do this.

Oh, and the text to speech program is not the same at the voice. As an
example the free ware text to speech program I was using was deskbot.
Deskbot has the L & H voices. However, deskbot will run the voices I
purchased. It will also run the microsoft voices.

Speech synthesis is pretty good these days but theres still that obvious "im
a robot" element to it. Yamaha/Sony have come up with an awesome program
recently called Vocaloid, which is essentially singing/vocal synthesis (as
opposed to speech synthesis). It's still in relatively early stages but
already its perfect for backing vocals, and even the odd lead
