text selector.cursor size

When i am typing, the cursor size (the text selector line that flashes while
you type) is really small. This only happens in some documents. How do I
change it to be the normal size (which is usually a little bit bigger than
the chosen font size)?

Switching to 500% zoom and back again usually fixes it. I don't know
of any way to prevent it.
