Text Offset editcontrol differs from other controls

I have a weird problem: the text offset in edit controls is one pixel
heigher than the offset of text in comboboxes. Does anybody know how to fix
this problem?

if I have a few edit boxes and comboboxes on a form (behind each other) my
text is not all on the same line... so it looks like this: ----__---__
instead of ---------------

ps: I tried to restore my desktop settings, turn on/off themes, change the
text properties via advanced settings, etc but something still screws it up
since all this doesn't work
