Text not aligned in text boxes on files created on other machines

Hi-

I have a machine with Project 2007 that has an issue viewing textboxes. The
text is not aligned with any of the boxes. It is always above the box and may
slightly overlap with the top border of the box.

We have not found a setting that corrects this and the same file (which was
created on another machine) appears normal when viewed from other machines.
None of the alignment options seem to affect the location of the text in the
box.

If you create a text box in this presentation, the alignment is also wrong.
If you create a text box in a new file, the alignment is just fine. This is
also true of other presentation files that the user has tried to open. Again,
the same file looks fine on any other machine.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled Office and I uninstalled and then manually
removed all Office components following the directions in KB928218. There was
no change.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Rick

Hi Rick

You've landed in amongst PowerPoint users here (easily done - Project is the
next group down :)). However, I reckon this is a local printer driver
issue. See if this helps (even though it says PowerPoint not Project):
PowerPoint 2007 text editing slow, text cut off, text display or formatting
problems, print, crash problems

Lucy,

I apologize. I was multi-tasking while writing my question - installing
Project while troubleshooting my PowerPoint issue.

The issue is in fact with PowerPoint.

I haven't tried printing the slides to see if the issue carries over to
prints, but it does show on the screen.

Thanks,

Rick

Lucy is not suggesting that you print the slides.

There is an issue with PPT displaying text poorly because PPT doesn't like
the printer driver you've installed and set as your default printer driver.

Here's how to fix it:

How to install a TEST printer driver

Or install SP2 for Office 2007. That also should fix it.

Thanks all! This did the trick.

Then definitely follow the link Lucy supplied, and from there, the other links in
the same page.

Printing may not be relevant ... printer driver issues can cause on-screen
problems.

Yes. You're right. It makes no sense.

But it's so. ;-)
