Text format seems the same but is not

I import data and it is formatted as text.
When I look in the cell I see WORD in one cell of source one and 'WORD in
the cell from source 2. While the appear to be the same they are not (the
exact function sees them as different) That ' in front of the text is the
problem.

I need to make them act as equal - Any ideas on how to change one to the
other (or vici - versa)

Format an empty cell to General.

Copy that cell.

Select your range of data and Paste Special>Add>OK>Esc.
