Hi all. I am currently using office 2003, however i could not open a
particular word file and was prompt that by ms word that it could be resolved
using text file converter. I installed text file converter through add/remove
programs by clicking change on microsoft office as mentioned on internet.
However the same problem occur. I am able to open this file on other older
word version like word 2000. How can i solve this?

In which version of Word was this file created?

It sounds as if it's been damaged in a manner that Word 2003 can't handle. If
you can, as you say, open it in Word 2000, try saving as HTML (a web page) in
that version, or as RTF, then try opening this in Word 2003.

Hi Cindy,
I tried to open using another pc with office 2003 and was able to access the
file.
Is there any setting that i might have missed out?
I tried changing the file to rtf but to no avail.

This is the only file that installation of Word 2003 has problems with? And if you
open it on that other Word 2003 PC, then save in XML file format? Can the other Word
2003 open that?

If not, then I'd say that installation is damaged, although I find it odd the
problem is happening only with the one file. Does that file contain anything
special, like macros, ActiveX controls...?

Please quote the EXACT error message you're getting when you try to open that file.
