I have a word document that has a lot of txt boxes in it, 3 columns and
multiple rows, i'd like to retain the format and copy into excel.

For example, in word i'd have:

Joe Smith 123456

These would be in different txt boxes in word, i'd like to copy it into
excel in 3 diff cells. is this possible, thank you in advance.

Do you actually mean Text Boxes or a *Table*?

If a table you can just select the table, copy it & paste into a worksheet.

If they really are separate text boxes it's a different story. The text
boxes can be converted to Frames (one at a time), then the Frames can be
removed (one at a time). The result converted to a table, then copied &
pasted into a sheet, or copied & pasted directly into a sheet then
transposed... A lot of work if there are "a lot" of text boxes. Although it
may be something that macros can automate it would most likely be easier to
type a new list in Excel.

There may be other options I'm not aware of, so keep checking back.

What version of Word & Excel might make a difference as well.

It would appear that each box is a frame, if i right click on the frame, i
came remove the frame but the text inside of it disappears as well. so that's
no good. I would like to retain the same format when moved to xls.

This is something that is done on a monthly basis, recopied into excel one
txt box at a time which i think is rediculous, let me know if this is
possible.

Thanks.

No disrespect, but what's ridiculous is that it's going into text boxes or
frames in the first place. I'm guessing that it's being output from some
sort of data management source, but there must be a better option - even a
tab- or comma-delimited text file would present fewer headaches & provide a
more efficient workflow.

However, the content of a frame shouldn't be lost if the frame is removed.
The text should be retained but a paragraph border may be applied. What
specific command are you using to remove the frame? The Remove Frame command
isn't in the contextual menu - you have to go into the Format Frame
dialog... And you still haven't given any indication of which version of
Word you're using.

CyberTaz,

I am using Word 2003. No offense take, i just started a job and was
watching someone go through this painful task and i thought i could find a
better way to do it. When i right click on the frame and select Format
Change...remove frame, it also removes the text for some reason. I wish i
could attach an actual document to this but i can't. I believe the source of
this comes from outside the company so i dont think the option of format
delimited is on the table, that would have solved that problem long ago. Let
me know if you can help.

Thanks for trying,

Alex
