Text box issue

I have word 2002 and I am creating a procedure doc with system screen shots
and I want to put notes at various points of the screenshot using text boxes.
When I click to enter a text box it puts it in the doc however when I click
on it to insert text, there is a second dotted line framed box that shows up
just a little lower and to the right of the box I am in. If I type in text,
it types down in the lower right box and not the box I have highlighted. It's
almost like a "clone" however once I click off the box I was trying to type
in, the lower one disappears.

In Word 2003 or earlier, click on Tools | Options | General tab |
uncheck the "Automatically create drawing canvas" box | OK.

I already have that box unchecked. I ran the detect and repair and then the
text boxes worked fine... until I saved my doc. When I closed the file and
then went back into it, the text that I had in my boxes was no longer in my
boxes, nor were the boxes where I had placed them. When I click on one of the
text boxes, another box of the same size but with a dotted border shows up
down and to the right of the original box. Also if I move the box the random
placed text moves as well so I can not line up the box with the text in it.

Does this problem occur in all documents? If yes, then there could be a
problem with the template that the document is based upon. Assuming
that template is Normal.dot, try renaming Normal.dot as described in
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/BlankDocNotBlank.htm .

Or does this problem occur in one particular document? If yes, then
that document is probably corrupt. Make a copy of the document and
attempt the recovery procedures described in
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/CorruptDoc.htm on the copy.
