Text box annoyance

I'm using word 2003 and for the past little while whenever I select to insert
a text box anohter box appears which states "insert your drawing here".

I don't know why or how this has started but it is getting quite annoying.
Does anyone know how to get rid of it. I just want to be able to insert my
text box without that other one showing up moving all my other text out of
the way.

That's the "drawing canvas." Disable it on the General tab of Tools |
Options. For the rare cases when you need it (it does have its uses), you
can use Insert | Picture | New Drawing.

Ahh, thank you so much it's been driving me batty.

Is there a way to have it dissabled automatically when you install the
program?
I'm a high school teacher and have my students often using word and they
have the same problem. Now i'd suggest this fix to them but the way their
loggin is set up is that every time they log off the settings go back to
default.

Talk to the IT person who is responsible for setting up the computers.
He/she should be able to make this change in the initial setup.
