text appearance

In Word 2000, a co-workers has typed a line of text in bold & underline. She
then removed the formatting and hit enter to move to the next line. when she
types on that line, the text appears to be stacking on top of each other & it
is not readable. The col # is the status bar is changing as she types. When
I open the document, the text appears to be fine. Any suggestions?
