Text alignment in tables

I recently read in some tables from a tabulation type package and the
alignment in the cells is weird... it says that it's right justified but
depending on the number of characters in the cell, it will either display
centered or with a margin that doesn't match any of my settings or the other
cells.

If I try to enter a new row, it seems to retain these mystery settings. Any
ideas?

Could you expand on what you mean by "recently read in some tables from a
tabulation type package"?

What "tabulation type package" specifically? What does "read in" mean?
