PP2003 - Cannot align table

C

Carlos N

I'd like to align a table so that it is centered on the page. The usual
align commands in the menu are grayed out when I select a table. I've
read something about grouping a table first and then aligning it, but
the group command is also grayed out.

Is there a way to center a table in PP 2003??

Thanks!
Carlos

Normally to align anything, you need something to align it TO ... in other
words, two things need to be selected. But ...

The bottommost option of the alignment popup menu is "Relative to slide"

If you click that, PowerPoint treats the slide itself as the "other thing to
align to"

Then all the other options will no longer be grayed out.

Steve,
I thought this too... Until I tried it - doesn't work. Can't check Align to
Slide with a table selected: It isn't available (at least here). Haven't
found a solution yet to what Carlos needs to do...

Doesn't work on a table, though.

Only thing I know to do is turn on Grid or Guides and use that to align the
table to the center of the slide.

Well ain't that a bit of bizarro. I was poking at a table placeholder, and
there it works but once you doubleclick it and make it a table ... no go.

The pick up position and hammer tool in the free PPTools Starter Set lets you
center on the slide (you don't get your choice of left/right, top/bottom ... it
just does both.

I stand corrected.

But have a look here:

Scroll down to the Pick up/Place exactly info where it explains how to get the
free Starter Set tool to do the alignment to slide for you.

Carlos have you tried ungrouping the table and then grouping it? Sounds
weird I know but try it.
