Test Search - Files with No Extension

I need to be able to search large directories for text in files that do not
have an extension (such as .txt). It looks like Windows XP does not search
for text in files without extensions. All of the files I need to seach do not
have an extention. Is there a way around this? If not, are there any
programs that can do this?
