Test for outgoing spam

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum. I am looking at a few products
to try to block malware from sending spam from our pc's and getting us
put on a blacklist but still allow legit emails out. There are a few
3rd party apps and hardware solutions available that I'd like to test
but it doesn't mean anything if I can't see if they work or not. Does
anyone know if there's a program I can dl and run on my machine to
test these solutions aside from just opening my system up to the world
and seeing what happens? Thanks in advance.

if your pc is automatically
sending spam, then you
need to remove the infection
instead of blocking the transmission.

i couldn't recommend a
specific antiviral since no one
knows what exactly has
infected your pc.

if you are not familiar with
antivirals, the link below is

Yes, there is, but darned if I can recall the name
right now! I -think- maybe "vicar".
It's only the signature; there is NO payload, just a
signature to find, specifically for the kind of tests
you mention.

Ah, found it! It's "eicar" ;well, I was close.

I keep a copy in my archives for just such a purpose
but haven't used it in ages. It's been around for ages
but still suffices well.
Read the entire article, and depending on your level
of expertise, plan before you download it how you'll
remove it. It's no problem with XP & Norton's AV but
I'm not sure about a full server system.

There is almost no such thing.

Get rid of the Trojan and the problem disappears.

Further, if you are sending your own emails via your own MX, the admin of
the system should know how to configure your mail server.

I guess I wasn't clear enough. I am the admin for the network. I
have cleaned the offending machine and we are not currently on any
blacklist. I am in the process of trying to prevent this from
happening in the future. Much like viruses, there are new ones every
day and I don't want to have to worry about a spyware/adware software
solution on each of our desktops. I have found some software and
appliances which will monitor traffic before it hits the router but I
want to test it without repeatedly reinfecting a system for each test
and not knowing whether its actually infected enough and getting
inconsistant results for each test.
