Test Email 'Please verify....

B

Bob Nogera

I had to reinstall XP and Outlook 2002 on my computer. Every thing went well
except I can not send out a message in outlook, When the test account
settings button is pressed I get the message " Unable to send test message
Please verify E-mail address field"
I know that all the setting are correct and that there is not a problem with
my provider ( I can send on my PDA) .
I did find a patch at MS for Outlook 2002 that seems to address this problem
( caused by XP service pac 2) but when I attempt to install the patch I get
a message that "the expected version of the product was not found".
Any suggestions would be appreciated

Thank

Bob

Probably because you already have SP3 installed.
What send/receive error is reported when actually sending an email?

The Email field has a full proper string in outlook
Did you specify a non-blank string in the E-mail field in the mail
account defined within Outlook? Is it proper syntax ([email protected])?
Does it have any illegal leading, trailing, or embedded spaces?

No spaces or any thing else other than the address
And your PDA uses what e-mail program to send e-mail?
My PDA uses Windows Mobile 2003.

Can't help you regarding the patch since you never identified it.

The 'patch is "Outlook 2002 Update: December 4, 2002" from the Microsoft
Office site
and is ' Olk1005.exe'.

The discription of the issue on the site (
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=8a150355-83d4-48d1-
9c53-edc6953b7272&displayLang=en ) appears to be exactly the problem I am
experiencing. The problem is that when I attempt to run the the patch I get
a error saying that

And just WHAT does the error message say in Outlook when you attempt to
use the e-mail account that you defined in Outlook to send an actual
test message (and not the test process within Outlook but YOU sending
out an e-mail as a test)? Hard to troubleshoot an UNIDENTIFIED error
message.

I have removed and reinstalled Outlook with no change in results. My problem
on that end is that when I reinstall outlook it comes
up with all the mail and setting just as it was before removing it . ( I
used control panel to remove it) I also tried deleting the
Outlook file but that did not make a difference

Thanks for any help

Bob
