Bulleted points in a new text box are not aligned the same way as a default
text box in a provided layout out. How do I make them the same? I.e. the
left alignment is a little off when I drag a new text box versus using one
already provided.

Make sure both the placeholder text box and your new text box are aligned left
Select both box by holding the Shift key down and click on each of the boxes
once.

In your Draw menu (typcially in bottom left corner of screen), select Align
or Distribute > Align left

Did this work?

I can't find any good way to do this. The only thing that I can suggest is
to click on a line in the original textbox and look at the indent settings
in the ruler. Then, select the new textbox and set the same settings. This
is pretty easy for one level of bullets, but if you have any sub-bullets or
sub-sub-bullets, this could become very tedious.

It might be the bullet level / indent settings but first select the text box,
rightclick and choose Format Placeholder (or text box)

On the Text Box tab, check to see that the Margins match between the two text
boxes.

The free demo lets you create up to five styles. If you select the original
text box, pick up its attributes to create a new style, have the style remember
everything but source text, you can apply the style to other text boxes and
have it match everything up nicely. Size, position, indent levels, margins,
the whole works.

And free. Did I mention free? ;-)
