I have a database running and can not attain exclusive
possession, but cannot find who is logged on (we have some
old users which are being used as aliases). Does anyone
know how to close a database or otherwise "kick off" all
users from one?

Hi Karen,

I don't have any personal experience with this task, but see if these links help.
Watch out for any possible line wrapping on these links!

Look for KickEmOff2K sample database.

Look for Detect and Logoff Idle Users

Hope that helps,
