Terminal Service Manager not Connecting

R

Robbie

I am having a problem on a Windows 2000 Advanced Server
that is running in application server mode were the
Terminal Services Manager can not connect to the local
server. I see the server listed in the available terminal
servers, but the server has a yellow question mark beside
it. It does not mater how long you wait the question mark
will not go away. Users are still able to connect to the
application server while this is going on. The only
solution that I can find to the problem is to reboot the
server. After the reboot everything will work fine for
about a week and then the same problem will come back.

Thank you in advance for any advice that you may be able
to give.

Robbie,

We are having the exact same problem on the exact same
software platform. I was about to post the same issue
when I came across yours. Our biggest problem is that
while Terminal Server Manager is in this state we can't
perform any "remote control" sessions with our terminal
server client users. Please keep me in mind should you
receive an effective response to your posting or discover
a solution to this problem any other way.

Thank you,

I don't know. It sounds like this is a bug, so have you
contacted Microsoft support about this? I can't find much
information about this in the knowledgebase.

Check the event logs for any RPC errors. I had something
similar happen recently but could not connect to the TS in
RM mode.
The problem was resolved when I removed the Blaster worm
and applied the latest SP's HF's. :)
Not saying that's your problem but sounds like RPC would
be a could place to start looking.

I am running Windows 2000 Server and have upgraded from SP3 to SP4 in
the last two weeks. Within the last week, I have had the same issues
in TS Manager where I am not able to view the connections to the local
server. However, if I highlight the domain name in the tree, it will
show me the local sessions. Very Weird. Anyone else able to click on
the domain name and see the connections?
