Open the Remote Desktop Connection program.
Choose Options->Display
Your choices are under Colors

Windows 2000 Terminal Services supports a maximum of 256 colors.

To get 24 bit color you either need Citrix or Windows 2003 Terminal
Services.

In the RDC applet (start > programs > accessories >
communications is the default) you should be able to
select 24 bit (True Color) for the disply. If not, does
the workstation monitor suport 24 bit color?

There is a confusing issue when the local workstation
resolution is set to something different than the remote
system display.
