Temporary Internet Files

I do not very often look at the temporary internet files through the wnidows
explorer, but have now noticed that the folder styled Tempory Internet Files
is missing from the list. When checking through Internet Explorer, Tools,
General, and then browsing the history, the history is there. Also going into
settings the current location is shown as "c:\Documents and settings\my
name\local settings\temporary internet files\. I have also found this path
through the command prompt and seen the files. Where are they in Windows
Explorer? How do I get them back?

"Temporary Internet Files" is a hidden folder. Simply copy and paste the location in Start, Run dialog, in order to browse that folder.

I have done this and could see the Temporary Internet Files, BUT, I still
cannot pick it up through Windows Explorer. I am currently using IE7.

In Windows Explorer, Tools, Folder Options, View tab, select Show hidden
files and folders.

%userprofile%\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5

Local Settings is Hidden, anything beyond that is also Hidden.

The only way you can navigate to Content.IE5 is to use the Run command or
create a shortcut.

You cannot use Windows Explorer to navigate to your Content.IE5 folder.

You can use Windows Explorer to navigate to other user's Content.IE5
folders.

Using the Run command it does not matter if *anything* is Hidden.

See Ron Sommer's post on how to show Hidden files and folders.

Replied to [Jamesb_za]s message :
Only once I unticked the option: "Hide protected operating system files
(Recommended)" could I see a display of cookies and other files. Whenever I
want to browse the folder in future, I will then simply untick, do what I
need to do and then tick the option again. I am the only user of my PC.
Thanks for your efforts in assisting me.

To make the visible in explorer, Click Start > Run :
attrib -s -h "PathOfFolder"

for example :
attrib -s -h "C:\Documents and settings\Ayush\Cookies"
