i need help with gathering infromation for a car rental database. is there a
template which i could look at or where could i find which information needs
to be input into which tables.

What about talking to a car rental agency to find out what the track?

Sorry, I don't know of any templates for car rental databases. This usally
is a big undertaking.
You might be able to use a different templates as a base and build upon it
for the car rental.
Some tables that come to mind are:
Customer tables
Car Details tables (color, vin #, accessories, etc)
Car Insurance tables (Car Rentals insurance, not customers)
Customer and Car Rental Details.(Which customer contracted for which car,
date out, date in, rate payment method )
Maintenance (Which cars are under maintenance)
Accounting table

I am sure there is many more.
