templates, autotext, security and distributing doc files

We have a performance form we want to distribute with the Checkit and
Uncheckit autotext-macro and macrobutton gadget working. If I just send the
doc file to someone, they get the Macros are disabled warning. By default,
Word macro security is set to high. Our users are not up to setting the
security level to Medium nor or they going to get an email attachment and
know to save it in their templates folder.

All we want is a check box that can be double clicked and changed to a
checked box. Is there a way to save autotext with the document and not in a
template?

BTW, Infopath is great but too scary for Managers, too.

What is the point of macros if you can't use them

There is no way to put AutoText in a document.

There are a number of ways to create and use clickable checkboxes in
documents / templates. Some require protected or locked forms, others do
not. Take a look at the Checkbox template available at
http://www.addbalance.com/word/download.htm#CheckboxAddIn for an exploration
of these. One of the things explored is using a global template (an Add-In)
to hold the AutoText and related macros. Once the Add-In is installed (and
appropriate macro security set) your documents with macrobuttons will work
without the base template.

Thanks Charles for the response. I actually had already used the Addbalance
site to get my checkboxes working. Great site. It is distributing the
template that is the problem.

I will look into distributing the gloabal template as an add-in.
