Template updates to Users

I'm looking at ways of promoting the use of the latest corporate template
with minimal effort from the users.

Is it possible to point Power Point to look for a template in a specific
location on SharePoint when the users clicks on "New".

Or is there a way to "push" a template to users Power Points?

We are using SharePoint 2003, with a mixture of Office 2003 and 2007

Hi, Steve,
Thanks for your reply. I was hoping for a non-add-in solution. But maybe
we'll take a look at tyour product in due course.

I think you can "push" a template with log-in scripts and stuff like that,
but I don't know how to do those specifically.

You can create your own default template in PPT by naming it blank.POT or
blank.POTX and putting it in the appropriate folder. Since you have a mix of
versions, that might vary. (Of course it also depends on the operating
systems.)

For 2007 on Vista, that would be
C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates

Then when the user starts PPT, they'd get that template. Any other templates
(specifically POT or POTX files) you put in that folder show up when you go
to File | New and select "my templates."

If you templates to show up in the themes gallery on the Design tab in PPT,
put them here:
C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates\Document Themes (in
Vista) Even though this is the themes folder, all kinds of file types show
up in the gallery when you put them here: THMX files, POT/POTX, PPT/PPTX,
etc.
