Template Question

I have an existing website and use FP 2000 to update it. We have never used
templates and I would like to go back with a new design and do this. What is
the easiest way?

Unfortunately, there is no easy way to do this - it's not like applying a
"theme". What you need to do is to build a new web in FP using the template,
then one by one copy the content on the pages from your old web into the
pages (there will be page templates) of the newly built web. It's a pain,
but not as bad as retyping.

You may consider upgrading to FP2003 - that way, you can use DWTs (Dynamic
Web Templates) designed for FP2003, and although you have to go through the
same initial steps, changing designs in the future *IS* a piece of cake - you
*can* attach a different DWT to a web using a DWT.

Thanks Teri, I will upgrade and give it a go. Will the 2003 upgrade work from
FP 2000?

I am not really sure, but I don't think so. Quite frankly, I've been happier
with the new installs than the upgrades on this particular product, and the
price difference wasn't that great, so my recommendation is to go with a
fresh version.

you can actually do a fresh install with the "upgrade" version,
just remove FrontPage from your system, then load the upgrade, it'll ask to
"see" your original disk (so have it ready). all you have to do is put the
disk from the previous version in the drive so the 2003 installation process
can "see" it and you're good to go.

Hi Chris~

How far back in versions can you do this? If you can do it for FP2000, can
you also do it for FP98?

Thanks,
Teri
