Template files dotm suddenly increased in size from 50K to 2.5MB

I have been developing some Word 2007 template files which include XML for
ribbon customisation, VBA code and some paragraph styles. I suddenly noticed
that the file size had suddenly increased from less 100K to 2.5 MB. I
started again and recreated a new dotm file and copied everything back in and
all was fine until I starting creating / defining a new Multilevel list and
again the file size suddenly increased to +2MB in size.

Any ideas why this is happening as over 2MB is unacceptable for a template
file.

Unacceptable? 2.5mb is quite large for a Word 2007 template, but the main
questions are Does it work? Is it reliable? If those are both affirmative
then the size is irrelevant.
