Temp inter files are not where I put them

Two years ago I changed the location of the temporary Internet Files and
Cookies, and the contents are manually deleted after every Internet session.
Last week the new location no longer shows any files - just an index.dat file
that won't let me delete it. Where did the files go? Why was the temp
directory changed?
 
Don't know why it was changed but if you have a \TMP or \TEMP folder check
there.
