Can someone advise me why the pc becomes slower or crashes when the Temp
folder is large. Is the a Microsoft document/whitepages stating what happens
and why deleting these temp files and folder content fixes the problem.

If your machine slows down then this could be caused by
the hard disk being completely full rather than the temp
folder. How much free disk space do you have? How did
you measure that the PC slows down?

Pegasus thanks for responding.

The programs will take longer to open. Outlook will give errors. WOrd will
give "you have performed illegal operation" error.

But if you empty the temp folder all these issues vanish. I have been asked
if there is any official documentation on this remedy, I cannot find one and
was hoping someone out there knows where there is.

The hard disk has plenty of space it is only when the Temp folder reaches a
certain size

I suspect that your computer has been compromised by
a virus or by malware and that the symptoms you observe
are caused by this malware, not by Windows. Windows
itself does not care how full the temp folder is, as long as
there is sufficient free space on the hard disk. It follows
that there is no documentation on this subject.

You have these options:
- Remove the viruses/malware if you can.
- Use System Restore to return to a point before this problem occurred.
- Back up your data files, then perform a clean installation of Windows.
