Hello,

Is it safe to purge the folder C:\Documents and Settings\MyName\Local
Settings\Temp

Thank you.

Eric.

Steve,

Any way I can tell whether I am in the "general situation" or not?

Thank you.

Eric.

With no applications and or installs running and after restart, you can
delete the files from the %temp% directory.

Can I just rename the folder temp.old, restart the machine and see what
happens?
Would Win2k recreate the folder with all the rights automatically?

Thanks.

Eric.

you can do, Windows doesnt recreate the folder but you can simply create the
folder.

I said generally cos if you have any apps open at the time you delet it they
"may" have some info lost temporarily. For example out company use Lotus
Notes for email, if the temp folder is cleared while notes is running it
makes Notes get a hiccup and forget some of its current settings. Exiting
and re-entering Notes again fixes the probs

Steve,

I understand.

Will I have to manually reassign the rights to the temp folder for each user
group?

Eric.

There's no reason to do that.
