Temp Files

Mick

Hi all,
Just discovered a huge cache of temp files in Vista Ultimate (about 4G
worth)

C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Temp

Then there is a folder cataloging the full contents of just about every
..zip file on my PC.

e.g., Temp1_maps.zip, Temp1_nokiadownloads.zip, Temp1_...zip, and on
the folder list goes.

It really seems that just about every zip file I have is there and the
associated folder contains the full unzipped contents.

Any ideas what this is about? Can I safely delete all of these folders?

Thanks

Mick

Hello Mick,

Normally you can cleanup your system with disk cleanup from the program files>accesoires>system
menu. If you not sure what to delete, you can check the dates in the temp
folder and everything older then one week you can delete.

Best regards

Temp files can be deleted; however, it is wise to check what files are in the
temp folder as applications such as Microsoft Office does put files in the
temp folder which enables you to install other features without using the
Office CD.

While you can use diskcleanup i prefer to use the freeware application
called CCleaner

Thanks for the info guys. The Vista disk cleanup seems to ignore the
said files. ccleaner does find them though.

Just wondering why Vista catalogues all the zip files this way.
Basically there is a folder in the temp folder for about 1500 zip files
stored on various partitions/drives on my comp. Each of these temp
folders contains contains the full contents of the said zip file. Some
of the zip files I haven't accessed in years.

I simply have no idea why they ended up there in the fist place.

BTW - I've moved them all with seemingly no adverse consequnces.

Thanks

Mick
