Temp Files

While preparing for a HD upgrade I found close to a gig of temp files in
C:\Documents and Settings\"My Name"\Local Folders\Temp. It appears
that some applications, following install, did not clean up after
themselves very well. Are any of these essential, or can I delete them
like I occasionally do from my Windows temp folder? Also, anyone have
any thoughts on Seagate DiskWizard? I plan to use their utility to copy
data from my current HD to my new one. Both drives are Seagate-ATA/100
XP SP-2 (New drive 120gig-yeah I know thats small by todays standards,
but the price was right). Thanks.

With no applications and or installs running and after restart, you can
delete the files from the %temp% directory.

No temp/tmp files are essential. All temp/tmp files can be, and should
be, regularly deleted for best results.

The ONLY exception is just after you install new ware, as in that case
the new apps may want to see it's temp files to finish the install.

After that tho, all temp/tmp files can go to hell. No matter in which
account. This includes ALL Internet temp files, which are often saved in
Temporary Internet Files or such type named folders.
