Hi,
I have found that using the built in a windows XP telnet client, I can type
telnet <anyhost> 25
and it appears to connect (though I get no response), even if the host is
just a made-up IP address. Using a different port number or doing it from
windows 2000 gives the expected result:
Connecting To <host>.. Could not open connection to the host, on port
<port>: Connect failed
Why is the telnet client or tcp/ip stack treating port 25 differently?
