I'm not sure what you mean by 'merge', but as I understand the term, it
cannot be done if you want to retain editability (as WordArt objects). The
best you can do is arrange them as you like, select both and use the
Draw>Group command to keep them together. That does *not*, however, combine
them as a single object & they can be UnGrouped at any time.
If you will *not* want to edit them again, you can also select the two,
cut/copy, then Edit>Paste Special - Picture. The better choices are PNG or
Enhanced Metafile. The others will cause degradation. Note: you *can*
right-click an EMF & select Edit Picture, but what you wind up with is a MS
Office Drawing Object which will most likely be unusable.
