TD Error: 1004: Invalid resource: "<File(819):"%17%","machine.inf">":

TD shows some errors while building the image:

Error 1004: Invalid resource: "<File(819):"%17%","machine.inf">":
(Error -2147023084 (0x80070714) in "": The index specified does not
reference an existing item in the collection.)

This seems to happen to some .inf files (machine.inf, usbport.inf,
?mouse.inf). There are no errors or warnings during check dependencies.
Although the files are present on the final image and the image seems to
run normally.

I reinstalled the whole embedded windows package (starting with embedded
xp with no service pack, then upgrading to XPE SP1) and reinstalled the
database and all QFEs but the error didn't go.

What to do? Thnx

Juergen,

Just a few hints:
1. Make sure you have access to the shared XPe repository folder (via the
share path, \\server\Respositories) and that the
{484C9D34-846E-40E2-A2E6-FF2771A303D5} folder has 11,000+ items in it.
2. Some anti-virus software may cause the same errors in XPe build (e.g.
Norton Antivirus 2002). Try to uninstall it (or disable it) if you have got
some and see if it helps.
3. I remember seeing this error mentions a few times in this newsgroup.
Search NG archive to get more info.
4. Since you mentioned you had XPe wintout SP1, reinstalling might cause the
problem. Try removing XPe completely (including database), cleaning up all
the repository directories and then install XPe SP1.

Hi, thanks for your answers.
1. Make sure you have access to the shared XPe repository folder (via the

It is. Buildprocess does it's job.
2. Some anti-virus software may cause the same errors in XPe build (e.g.
Norton Antivirus 2002). Try to uninstall it (or disable it) if you have got
some and see if it helps.

InoculateIT: disabled. No change.
3. I remember seeing this error mentions a few times in this newsgroup.

Sorry, didn't find anything.
4. Since you mentioned you had XPe wintout SP1, reinstalling might cause the

the repository directories and then install XPe SP1.

Really strange. I removed everything dealing with embedded xp, even the
server desktop engine. I purged the repository folders and, after
rebooting, reinstalled directly Windows Embedded SP1. After importing
the SP1 QFEs and my own components TD showed exactly the same errors as
before (all of them concerning MS-.inf-files, not my own components).
So I can build images that are fully runable but I get 33 errors in
total while building.
This makes me insecure since I don't know what's going wrong.
Any more ideas?
Thanks
