TCPIP Stack Corrupted?

R

Ryan

NIC card defaults to AIPA 169.254.23.151 IP address
instead of obtaining IP from DHCP server. Tried to
uninstall TCPIP but unable to due to Simple TCP/IP and
Print services components currently installed. Not sure
how to remove these services and how to install a new
TCPIP stack. Any suggestions or help greatly appreciated.

Sounds like your DHCP server is out of addresses or it is on a different
subnet that is blocking DHCP broadcasts. To check the machine give it a
static IP and see if it works. Then you'll know the machine is fine and the
problem lies somewhere else. This does not sound like the TCPIP stack is
corrupted.

remove the adapter from within the device manager. reboot the machine, and
it should be re-detected, a new stack should be installed for it, and
bindings and config and all...

I have to do this periodically, more with Broadcom NIC's , but occasionally
with Intel NIC's too.
