Hello,

I am settng ups a Symantec Antivirus Server (SAV) they specify various TCP
ports that need to be open in order for the various SAV Server/Client
routines to be able to communicate.
Here is one of their requirments " ports 1024-4999" so my question is
can you specify a range of ports when adding a port exceptions ? From my
limited experience it seems that you can only specify one port at a time
.....so if that is the case ..... how many work days will it take to add all
those required ports ??? :) I hope a range can be specified somehow ?

thanks

What firewall program do you have?

What operating system do you have?

If it's the Windows Firewall in Windows XP Service Pack 2 or Windows
Server 2003, you can only specify ports one at a time. In that case,
I'd recommend installing a different firewall and disabling Windows
Firewall.

Be sure to open ports on the local area network subnet only!

Yes, this is a Windows XP discussion group. However:

1. You might be using a third-party firewall program, like Norton,
McAfee, or ZoneAlarm.

2. You might have Windows XP RTM or Windows XP Service Pack 1. Those
versions don't have the Windows Firewall. Only the Service Pack 2
version has it.

We only know as much as you tell us, and making assumptions can lead
to giving answers that are incorrect and unhelpful. I recommend
including as much information as possible when asking a question.
That helps you and everyone else.

You're welcome anyhow. :-)
