Configure muliple ports under port exceptions on XP Firewall

I want to open up ports above 1024 for RPC communication on all our PCs (for
DeviceLock software)

Is it possible to add a range of ports into the Define Port exceptions
section of the GPO for XP Firewall?

thanks for this suggestion. I had a look at it, but i don't think it will
solve the issue

There's no way to define port ranges. However, could you instead create an
exception for the DeviceLock programs? I'll admit I've never used
DeviceLock, so I'm not exactly sure what you'd need to create exceptions
for.

Hi Steve

I have created an expection that allows the DeviceLock program to run. But
for the server to contact each client it uses dynamic RPC ports. The
DeviceLock FAQ says to open ports above 1024 for RPC.

To get it to work I have rolled it out to some Depts and checked what ports
it is trying to connect over. At the moment I have had to add in ports 1025,
1036, 1039
I haven't rollout it out fully yet and I hope not to have to continually add
in different ports, so I will see how it goes
