tcp/ip and driver loss

why would my OS loos the drivers for the nic? when i shut
down my pc and come back and turn it on the network card
failes to start. i go to run,cmd and type ipconfig and all
i get is a empty config report so i type ipconfig/renew
and the reply is no tcp/ip? so any ideas?

What os are you using?
Try reinstalling the drivers again.
Are you fully patched? Updated virus protection?

Lots of reasons why the OS would lose the drivers.
Lots of ghost in the machines these days.

OS win2kpro and yes all the patches fixes and updates new
install of pccillin with latest virus scan. everything
comes up clean i just loose the nic?????

Perhaps it's a hardware problem with the network card.
Have you tried changing it out?

This is not a hardware issue. I, along with one of my
clients, am experiencing the exact same problem on one of
my W2k (Linksys router networked) workstations.

MS screwup? Virus? Any answers out there as to what's
causing this problem?
