Tasks Scheduler Automation

I am trying to run Windows XP Task Scheduler to run other programs on there
own. I understand how to set up tasks, but does anyone know how to automate
the programs to run on there own?
 
Go to run,type:services.msc In msc,double click a service,then scroll from
manual to auto.
