Taskbar

All of a sudden, open programs are displayed twice in the taskbar. I have tried unloking the taksbar, moving the taskbar separators, deleting a taskbar separator, but to no available. This is really annoying. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Separators are only present if there is a toolbar on the taskbar. If a
program's shortcut is in a toolbar, it is normal for the program to show
here and in the taskbar when it's open.

It is also possible to open more than one incident of many programs - this
will also result in multiple buttons on the taskbar with the same name.

Example: you can open file.txt and this will place a Notepad button on the
taskbar that shows the file's name. Open the same file again and you get a
duplicate.

If one has accidentally setup for "single click" -- double clicking a file
would inadvertantly open two copies of the same file. Use Folder Options>
General to change back to double click options.
